Share Lang...

Posted by jeng_is_cute at 01:28 AM on February 8, 2007.

So while I figure out how I'll be blogging our recent Hong Kong trip with over 400 pictures to browse thru (and this is just only from Ruth's Camera) plus a couple of hundreds more from Ben, Manoy, and Jamih's camera... thought I might share something from the past.. or sort of reminded me of the past...

Got an email from De La Salle Group multiply account for this AD...its an AD for Valentines Harana in La Salle... ever since I went there, it has been a yearly event that Harana Services are being sold at very reasonable cost during valentines.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Anyway probably thinking why am I sharing this... If I could still remember the year right, 12 February, 2004... I got one of the best suprize (honest to god! it was a very unexpected one) from a bunch of my SA friends...from Juni, Mark, Jay, Diane, Rhea, and Cesar (hehe hope I didn't miss anyone from the 6to9 Club).. Waiting for me at Goks 304a was a chorale member, singing some show tune, then happy birthday, with the guys holding a small black forest and waiting for me to blow the birthday candle...It came as a big suprize when I really felt that my birthday was something people tend to skip by with all the Valentine bug going around (hahaha bitter!)

Ok.. so worth mentioning also was last years surprize. Since we, my batchmates and I wasn't really big on setting up Birthday meriendas... hehehe...(aminin na natin batchmates na Meanies talaga tayo hindi tayo magaling sa ganyan) even though my birthday was a Sunday, come Monday there was a small merienda for me (despite all the complications - YOU few involved guys know what it was/is...hehehe)

Then there was the H.K. trip that I told myself is an advance birthday gift (its about time I really spend BIG for myself) In Hong Kong, 4 February, 2007, if not for the lack of sleep and a little grumpiness I'd probably be crying at that specific moment in time. (Ngayon ako naiiyak) Manoy went to the extent of lying of meeting up Jamih and Teng, almost getting busted with that excuse (magaling din mag cover up si Teng..hehehe), managed to find a birthday candle(s) in the streets of HK (hehehe hindi ko alam ang buong detail) then after Ruth and Teng ordered their so called dessert after dinner,... They all sang Happy Birthday with a lighted candle in Durain Pudding... One of the most memorable moment of my life... kakaiyak...kakahiya, felt I didn't have the best reaction in the world! Grr...grogy na huhuhu.. well still waa, as in could have given everybody a really big hug (alam na ni ruth kung ano excuse ko for not giving one.. hahaha...serious yun)

Surprizes are the best! Even though I may have claim a couple of times in my life that I hate them...hehehe... It makes up a big chunk of memorable memories I have... be turning 25 soon...

Happen to pass by my beloved alma mater's website and I found myself browsing in Verification of Graduates Page. If you happen to know my full name, you can find out what year and course I graduated from. Nice noh!

Bago ang sharing..Korean sighting muna! Bakit ang gwapo ni Rain? Missed his concert a few days after he went there for his asia invasion! Sayang! grr!

*will still update to include pictures. sa weekend na... hehehe
Hong Kong being the first country/island requiring a passport?(hehe) I visited was really surreal and more than what I expected it to be. Loved everything about it! The people I'm with are great. The Island is really nice. People are really diverse. Lots of pinays!(you should figure why) Thank God they understand english, well if not, you point to the picture/item you like.. hehehe. Signage are in both english and chinese characters so its really tourist friendly. The 4 Nights and 3 Days we spent there was not enough to really go over the whole island and other mini islands surrounding it but still we covered a lot of ground.(Read More)

Simplify and Create Abundance

Posted by jeng_is_cute at 08:27 PM on February 22, 2007.

Since this year has started all I've been thinking about is buying what I want, what I want, what I want... Not that it's a bad thing but I guess I had just put myself in a very irrational state. Dump myself unconsciously to a self-imposed financial crisis and there is no reason why I should be here... To be honest, there is no reason for me to think that I am in a financial crisis because I am really not. For one thing I could still buy the food I want to eat and could still pay for fare going to and from work, I could still afford to buy stuff like an MP4 player (which by the way I got at a bargain from Van - hehehe), could still... um...Ok so I'm a little off the point now.

Let me start again.

I got this book for my birthday. "Simplify and Create Abundance" How to be really wealthy without robbing your soul by Bo Sanchez

Not really a fan of self help books but gave it a shot and started reading it. It turns out I loved it. Its really nice because it talks about gaining money and not losing God or your faith in the process. It just hits right home because time and time again I've been telling people that I feel like since I started earning my few pesos I never really had time for Church orgs anymore, other than the usual sunday masses and days of obligation. Its like God and money (my work for this matter) don't mix. Could only have time for one thing at a time. Sure, I know others are doing it why can't I... hehehe... That's it right? why can't I. I can! I can! Just need more motivation. That I could actually be wealthy and healthy in all aspects of mylife and I'm just knowing it right now that I'm not, that I should be. That I complicate things, when I can simplify and thus making me wealthier. And how important it is to give to others, give back to God, to His church.

I loved the part in the book where Bo shares his friend who says its a mircle that his car starts even without gas, well he is praying for a miracle that his car will last till he has money to buy gas... but Bo has a different miracle, he could afford buying gas. That God provides him with money to buy gas and not worry that his car may die on him any moment. Thats the miracle that God is a good provider and doesn't make you worry on things.

I now also understand how important it is to give back to the church. Tightings right? Not really a strong believer before. But its nice how the book explained it in such a simple manner. Like, when we are praying to God to let us win Lotto and promise to be give XX% of the millions we win to the church.. and yet we can't even give 50 pesos every sunday mass. Right? We are only giving back what is God's through helping others. 10% is actually small compare to the amount of blessing he gives us everyday.

I spend so much money on things I don't actually need. Lack of self control. Tsk tsk tsk... When the money I spend could already feed a small community in Africa. Although there are reasonable things I can spend on. I could still spend extravagantly on worth-ful things.

And the rule of 70/30. On a monthly basis I should be able to live on 70% of what I earn. 10% for tightings. 10% for my retirement. and lastly 10% on sound investments. The 70% is more than enough for my basic needs (the wants falls under the 'if its a reasonable spending'). The tightings I've shared earlier. For the retirement, well this one is not in the book but my personal sharing. My mom has this two old-maid clients of her's that she spends her thursdays with (she use to work in a bank, that's where they met). her clients though they are old and has no immediate family (sons/daughters) to rely on they live their life comfortably. During thursdays they go wherever they want and eat whatever they crave for (provided their dentures can take it). Every week could visit the salon and have their hair blow dry for 600 bucks! darn! 600! just for a shampoo and blower. They are living on the interest they are receiving from the money they save for retirement. And I want to live like that...NOT as an old maid but as financially independent person when I get old and not to burden anyone. Lastly the 10% for sound investments, we'll lets just say that God can provide us MORE than what we need.

Hehehehe sounding a little too looney now... wala lang can't really explain things e... parang answers in my prayers are staring at my face and yet I don't see it. Parang saying to me Hello, I'm here take me! hahaha. Basta, I do recommend reading this book. Even if you don't really have a strong faith or not christian, the book is just practical/logical/simple.

I live my life now because of all the choices I make, I am poor because I made/think I am.Yet I am wealthier than I think I am, just needs to be a little more self conscious in the choices I make. God is a good provider, he will bless me financially.

Just thinking a loud
