I am not a hardcore tech-windows-debugger person but I know when something is wrong with my PC.Argh! I'm itching to impulsively reformat my PC right now... grr kakakainis...
I normally start my geek PC day by opening my explorer browser to clubbox website to start downloading my korean series... and then this odd thing pops up on top of my explorer browser. I wasn't sure how long was my browser been that way but I only noticed it today...

Then I thought oh probably some nothing-to-do-good-with-his-lowly-life person send something over the internet for April Fools or Easter and one of us here at home open something something from out emails (or from somewere) then got infected by it. So started running ALL these series of virus checker anti-spyware to check...but nothing biggie was found, a couple of illegal trackers and that was it. So I moved on to checking the usuals, emails, sites, etc. etc.
A few hour later, I decided to pop in the CD that tita rowie burned for me... series of english subbed Hana Yori Dango Live action, the Jap version (if that title sounds familiar to you, its probably because you watched Meteor Garden - Gets?) Well anyway, to my shock my PC warned me that there was not enough Virtual Memory to run my application. What the?! Its not posible since (other than the usual stuff that Windows runs) I only have a browser open and clubbox running in the background. First impluse, I thought of running the disk clean-up thing to free up those temp internet files... So pressed START and guess what's missing in my Start menu?

Where the hell is my PROGRAM files link go? I'm not dumb enough to delete or disable something I always use right? I'm starting to get pissed.Grr talaga!!What is going on???
Then I pressed CTRL-ATL-DELETE to open Task Manager. And I prompted with this...

Biatch! The last time I checked I AM the administrator of this PC and I don't recall disabling my task manager...Hay naku naiinis na talaga ako.
Troubleshooting101
So started searching google how does a task manager gets enabled/disabled. I only found out today that you could do such a thing (Did you?). Got me to this site:
Enable/Disable Task Manager and I did what other stupid people do to their PC. Download the application linked to it and prayed that it works, risking my PC to more possible virus damages- well stupid. But it worked! And Thank God its freeware, but you could help up the guy who put up the site by contributing.
So after my task manager popped up (halleluya!) check Processes to find out whats running in my PC. For some reason the dummy who made virus that infected my PC doesn't want to Task Manager shown, he is hidding something in the background - My Sherlock Holmes instincts told me (hehehe). So browsed thru the list of unknown files to me and googled what each application(.exe) was for...and found the darm culprint running in my PC. Its "wscript.exe". There were about 7-10 of these running in and was eating up several thousand bytes of Memory Usage.
"If a process named wscript.exe is running on your computer, you may have been infected with a strain of the Vbswg.Aq worm.
wscript.exe is considered to be a security risk, not only because antivirus programs flag Vbswg.Aq Worm as a virus, but also because a number of users have complained about its performance."
Soooo thats why I ran out of Virtual Memory Space. Anyway as of the moment I have no
cure for it yet. Just End-Process each of those running trojan in my PC. Damn anti-virus didn't see it.
So I haven't figured out how to return my Program Files menu in the Start button so I switched to Win-classic view for the mean time. I guess the good-for-nothing-I-hope-he/she-drops-dead-face-first person who created this trojan didn't thought that there are 2 types of Start Menus and only deleted/disabled the one in the Start Menu.
I don't know what else is infected in my PC =(
Realization
Times like this, I wish I was using MAC instead of Windows. For a million reasons!! Starting with getting infected with a virus/trojan and making us meager users pay for it. If you think about it, in a perfect PC world with none of these virus/trojan problems, companies like TREND-MICRO would be out of business. So I guess there will always be market for no-good-virus-trojan doers. Law of Demand and Supply - they need the virus supply so there could be a demand for anti-virus. Grr!
As for my urge to format my PC... hay really need to back up soon and figure out how to install that Windows XP installer. I vaguely remember the guy who put up my PC together telling me that I have to call some damn hotline to activate my XP. Grr! Ganun ba talaga?? Oh yah, I paid around 5,000+ bucks just to buy a legal copy of my Windows XP to avoid these kind of problems and yet no matter how up to date their security updates are...hay use less Windows.
