Fone Fone ko toh!

Posted by jeng_is_cute at 12:55 AM on September 2, 2007.

I'm officially a Sony Ericsson User! Yay! I got my SE K610i before I went home tonight. Happy Happy Happy!

Though I didn't get the color I wanted. I was hoping for it to be red. But the smart personnel said that they only have one color available. which is the blue-grayish metallic one. which is not bad either.

So how was my first time using it? Dumugo ata ilong ko sa pag tetext! hahaha! Well after I turned off the Dictionary, everything was already great from then on.

Then I went on to SMART Website to find out how to activate my MMS/GPRS and 3G features... can you believe it! I'm using a 3G phone already! Sino kaya pwede ko tawagan? hehehe... unfortunately MyTV is only available for Nokia92. Sayang! hehehe Pero mahal ang rates ng MyTV, you pay 488 for a month on top of your monthly fix bill. Its like paying up a cable subscription already.

Next thing I did was register in Sony Ericsson. Whats the use of my phone with no support from the makers. hehehe... They gave me 2 freebie themes that I downloaded thru GPRS. And OMG! it felt like my GPRS went from dial up to Broadband! hahahaha! exage! pero totoo! Before, it will take me like forever to login to YM or some WAP site. Good thing SMART charges only 10 bucks for 30mins use of GPRS. Ngayon it took me less than a minute to download the themes... hmmm.. lugi ata ako sa bilis nun a.. hahaha!

It takes 2megpixels already, can take videos, has an Mp3 player - though no headset came with the unit, have to buy pa, expandable memory, bluetooth, usb... can you picture my amusement? as in natutuliro ako. sobrang advance na and cheap na phone ngayon. When before phones were only used for calling lang naman. Dati post beeper days, I text pa using my analog phone, my mom subscribed pa sa unang offer ng Globe ng texting feature, and I was in plan 100 then. Sayang, should have kept that plan noh, may loyalty rewards na kaya ako sa Globe ngayon?
hehehe...

So I didn't get a flip nor a slide phone but still I get really nice features with my phone and I find it cheap pa kasi I only added 2K and use my line for the next 24 months. So I'll give this one a 9 of 10 stars for my most practical buy to date. the 1 star fell because it didn't have a headset.

As for my Philips S660... I'll be exchanging it for my brother's nokia I really don't know the model. pero flip kasi.. hahaha. the model Zac Efron has in HSM - first one?! ano ba yun? Why? well can't hord all the mp3 playing phones... hehehe sayang naman. Pero as in maganda din features nun. I'd give it a 9.5 din out of 10 stars for practicality, usefulness, features, cheap, and form is not that bad either, all for the cost of getting 350 plan in Sun, nice nice noh? 0.5 star fell since it has no bluetooth, nor IR, and doesn't have an expandable mem.

Well this is for all of us, who either can't afford to buy those really savy phones, or doesn't really care much as long as all the things we need in a mobile phone is there. Yay yay!

A-Must-Read!

Posted by jeng_is_cute at 11:37 PM on September 3, 2007.

So I've decided my relax time to read on some-some Inquirer articles... after all what's the point of subscribing to their daily online updates if I don't read them right??
I came across this article (UPDATE) Ousted journalist Malu Fernandez resumes writing and it reads
A LIFESTYLE writer, who was earlier reported to have been hounded out of her job after she wrote a travel piece many readers found insulting to millions of Filipinos who work abroad, has resumed writing.

Then I though how can a Lifestyle writer be ousted?? its lifestyle? you talk about social life stuff? fashion...something in that genre right? I mean nothing much libelous (imho) articles come from lifestyle right? Interesting... End up making a little research on this and I hit the jackpot! somebody posted a scanned copy of her article, yey!

got this from this link

and in my not so humble opinion this writer was totally writing on the one side of the picketed fence, she probably not once in her life met the poorest of the poor in this country - not the charity volunteer type, or probably is outer denial that she lives in a 3rd world country to give insults to her fellow country men. Her article makes me laugh! I was thinking, how could this pass the editor? Ahhh! an elitist cream of the crop! I didn't know one still exist enough to be writing an article... an actual published article.. hahaha... Its like a blog entry of total nonsense and demeaning insults...

excerpt! this is the most blogged about part in her article...

"However I forgot that the hub was in Dubai and the majority of the OFWs (overseas Filipino workers) were stationed there. The duty-free shop was overrun with Filipino workers selling cell phones and perfume. Meanwhile, I wanted to slash my wrist at the thought of being trapped in a plane with all of them.

While I was on the plane (where the seats were so small I had bruises on my legs), my only consolation was the entertainment on the small flat screen in front of me. But it was busted, so I heaved a sigh, popped my sleeping pills and dozed off to the sounds of gum chewing and endless yelling of “HOY! Kumusta ka na? At taga sann ka? Domestic helper ka rin ba?” Translation: “Hey there? Where are you from? Are you a domestic helper as well?” I though I had died and God had sent me to my very own private hell.

On my way back, I had to bravely take the economy flight once more. This time I had already resigned myself to being trapped like a sardine in a sardine can with all these OFWs smelling of AXE and Charlie cologne while Jo Malone evaporated into thin air.

All in all, it’s been a pretty good summer. Jetting from the Aegean Sea to the Pacific may sound a bit pretentious until you wake up in economy class smelling like air freshener"

Hilarious right?! hilarious that she's dumb enough to have written something really insulting and she doesn't even see it?! Isn't that really fascinatingly stupid? Did she ever have a degree or course in journalism? Oh this is her defense...this is even more entertainingly stupid...

"As I type this, I’d like you to know that it’s not about whining, complaining and bitching but just stating the facts. Just recently, I wrote a funny article in my magazine column and my friends thought it was hilarious. It was humorous and quite tongue-in-cheek, or at least I thought so, until the magazine got a few e-mails from people who didn’t get the meaning of my acerbic wit. The bottom line was just that I had offended the reader’s socioeconomic background. If any of these people actually read anything thicker then a magazine they would find it very funny. Most people don’t get the fact that they need bitches like me to shake up their world, otherwise their lives would be boring and mediocre. I obviously write for the a certain target audience and if what I write offends you, just stop reading.

Although it may sound elitist to you the fact is this country is built on the foundation of haves, have-nots and wannabes. One group will never get the culture of the other"

And I thought I was too proud to admit my own mistakes... this one just really don't get it.. does she? She's drilling more holes in her sinking ship. What's her target audience exactly? Her friends who are the only ones who saw it as hilarious - as so she claims? Or the have not's who really don't have time to read much so as it turns out nobody really reads her articles, nobody saw how dumb she writes...just now when she started insulting the have-nots and wannabes....If she reads broadsheets or any reputable newspaper or or stay long enough to finish news on TV (other than entertainment segment) she would probably get it why her article wasn't really that funny...

And deary - to you who wrote that uberly fascinating sarcastically humorous article - I don't think you'll be getting any apologies from anybody.. not from those who sent you hate mails, nor death threats, nor hate blog entries, nor any consoling words from anybody.

This totally reminded me of the Ugly American food critic wannabe who insulted the food in Jollibee.. but she had an excuse, she wasn't really Filipino. This person is shamefully Filipino.

To give this a happier ending... read this blog entry News Flash | The swine a.k.a. Malu resigns
Ito din nice read The Malu Pit

Can you tell me how to get, how to get to Avenue Q!

Posted by jeng_is_cute at 10:47 PM on September 10, 2007.

I love love love Avenue Q!

Well so far all the plays I've watched this year is very entertaining... High School Musical in Meralco Theater... Virgin Labfest in CCP... ZsaZsa Zathurna... to name the common ones.

And the most recent being Avenue Q. And I must say it could not have come at a better time... Really nice lessons in life, a parody of life through Puppets... sort of like a twisted Sesame Street... hehehe....

I think I'll be listening to the Soundtrack for awhile for sure... I like It Sucks to be me which is pessimistically true (read the lyrics to know why! LOL!) Schadenfreude which is German for happiness at the misfortune of others There's a Fine, Fine Line between a lover and a friend; between reality and pretend;

And my most fave of all is For Now
Only for now!
(For now there's life!)
Only for now!
(For now there's love!)
Only for now!
(For now there's work!)
For now there's happiness!
But only for now!
(For now discomfort!)
Only for now!
(For now there's friendship!)
Only for now (For now!)
Only for now!

Only for now! (Sex!)
Is only for now! (Your hair!)
Is only for now! (George Bush!)
Is only for now!

Don't stress,
Relax,
Let life roll off your backs
Except for death and paying taxes,
Everything in life is only for now!

Really worth my 1030.00php which is btw, still unpaid I-Owe-Manoy... hehehe... I recommend it to all my friends who are mature enough to appreciate way pass the Puppet Nudity :D

****

My weekend almost ended perfectly if not for the DLSU-ADMU upset yesterday. Sayang! I was there watching the game in Araneta and it was really intense! hehehe... You really don't just go there for the game but really brings back strong school spirit. Oh well, its was just for bragging rights, Ateneo and La Salle will still meet for sure in the Semis, hopefully La Salle is 2 to beat, though chances are really slim with its final game as against UE. Animo La Salle!

Sadness

Posted by jeng_is_cute at 10:34 PM on September 11, 2007.

I feel sad now. Hay, could have almost ended my day tired but happily but no... now its tired bruised frustrated miserable and obnoxious. Sigh, can't really depend your life on anybody, have to realize that you are your own island - but others will depend on you. as the song goes.. Its only for now

...Trying to picture myself on better things in life... counting down months, months to weeks, weeks to days, days to hours, hours to minutes, minutes to seconds... and then its a brand new day.

Bitter Sweet Symphony

Posted by jeng_is_cute at 08:01 PM on September 14, 2007.

Been down and up, down and up mood shifts and body aches a lot for the past couple of days now, and today, my body just can't take it anymore just broke down like a rusty old jeep. But there nothing that couldn't be cured by a lot of paracetamol tablets and long decent sleep.

Anyhow so goes with my ever so shifty mood, I finally finished my MV for Bohol. These are pictures taken by Jerrick's, Jr's, Rj's, and Luanne's camera. Music is Bitter Sweet Symphony by The Verve

'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony this life
Trying to make ends meet, you're a slave to the money then you die
I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down
You know the one that takes you to the places where all the veins meet, yeah
No change, I can't change, I can't change, I can't change,
but I'm here in my mold , I am here in my mold
But I'm a million different people from one day to the next
I can't change my mold, no, no, no, no, no

Well, I've never prayed,
But tonight I'm on my knees, yeah
I need to hear some sounds that recognize the pain in me, yeah
I let the melody shine, let it cleanse my mind , I feel free now
But the airwaves are clean and there's nobody singing to me now

No change, I can't change, I can't change, I can't change,
but I'm here in my mold , I am here with my mold
And I'm a million different people from one day to the next
I can't change my mold, no, no, no, no, no

(Well have you ever been down?)
(I can't change, I can't change...)
(Ooooohhhhh...)

My greatest fear...

Posted by jeng_is_cute at 11:58 AM on September 21, 2007.

Our greatest fear is not that we are inadequate, but that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, handsome, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God within us. It is not just in some; it is in everyone. And, as we let our own light shine, we consciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

Inspirational Quote last Sept 17, 2007

Posted by jeng_is_cute at 08:05 AM on September 25, 2007.

I got this quote in the devotional calendar Vianney gave me 2 Christmas back..

The duties and responsibilities you count as burdens today may be part or God's destiny for you life, the means by which your soul is lifted up and prepared for eternity.

Really hit home that day. Its not just for work, its a lot of things, family, personal life, what society thinks you should be, (as my gastro doctor says I tend to over think everything) etc. that I sometimes think Should I be doing this? Hay now I'm having (what I call) stomach stress pains... huhuhuhu ...Oh well. I'd say to myself Except for death and paying taxes, everything is only for now! (Avenue Q song)

Animo La Salle!

Posted by jeng_is_cute at 12:12 PM on September 30, 2007.

Today is the last game for UAAP season 70.. well not really hehehehe... but today is D-day for La Salle vs Ateneo. You know probably a lot of other people won't really understand what's the big fuss about this La Salle-Ateneo rivalry, I don't think I could explain it either, unless you really went to one of these schools. But it feels really exhilarating and amusing when we battle it out in the court. Believe me I've been to a La Salle-FEU finals game and it really feels different from a La Salle-Ateneo game, its really intense! hehehe.
If I went to Ateneo of course I'd be cheering on for Ateneo, but since I went on to study in La Salle, of course I'm cheering for the best school! (whehehehe - imnsho)
But what's important is at the end of the game you'd hear the other school clapping for the other, bragging rights only last until the next game.

Life's Blessings

Posted by jeng_is_cute at 09:20 PM on September 30, 2007.

I've never really figured out the sense of making 10 year goals , or 5 year goals back in H.S. or College. I've thought, what the sense of it, I'm living in the now moment right and have to deal with the now issues.

Then hitting 25 this year, it slowly makes more sense to me – quarter life crisis I suppose. I'm 25, still looking like 18 - has its perks and disadvantages, but what have I made myself into? I'm not a homemaker, I'm not an entrepreneur, I’m not a teacher, I’m not a big shot manager, I'm not an architect nor an engineer. I'm not anything I dreamed of as a kid. Of course as a kid I wouldn't have figured out that I'd be a programmer, IT consultant?! duh! The only computer I knew then was family computer imported from Japan - cool (labo). Now I'm starting to realize the use of all that goal settings and leadership seminars I've attended in college. I honestly attended them for requirement and extra credit. Who knew I could make sense out of it 4 years out of college?!

Now I can say to myself I have a dream and that dream I'll make it into reality, in 5 or hopefully less years (Naks!) and I'm claiming it now. I know the frustrations, the hate, the bitterness, the anger gets to me a lot (really lot!) these pass few months, and the sudden changes (and unwanted changes) shows off my un-friendly side. I've lashed out on some people, patched things out, lash to somebody else, the cycle just passed on to someone else, and sadly I still haven't figured out how to deal with it. Part of change huh? Because people do change.

I'm really thankful where I am right now.

Hmm.. who knows.. maybe when I hit 30 I'd figure out why they teach 4 subjects of calculus?! right?
