Sunday blogging

Posted by jeng_is_cute at 02:32 PM on February 3, 2008.

Gosh two weeks had gone by... I do have A LOT of things I want to share... but it haven't sinked in entirely, I couldn't even let myself cry since I feel too tired to shed them... Out of words... just a lot of THANK YOUs... I'm not big on emotions I guess... Inside maybe I'm a stereotypical male with all this machismo and could not express emotions, trapped in an uberly attractive female body! LOL! Just Kidding Lets just go back working on expressing how grateful I am... and how blessed I am. Hopefully I'll be able to share it in the next few days... till then...

I now know what my pretty angle is... hehehe taken from my really advance birthday party celebration courtesy of a lot of office friends. Salamat. One of the many things I am thankful for.

Ang Init!

Posted by jeng_is_cute at 09:51 PM on February 5, 2008.

Basta may kinalaman sa Good Luck.

So in short nag ask na lang ako ng money back.

Balang araw *someday*

Obsolete Technology

Posted by jeng_is_cute at 04:10 PM on February 16, 2008.

I just want to share my frustrations with my new PC. I am actually loving it but it has a few issues I'm bumming about now. Lesson for all you who are buying PCs!

Backgrounder: Last week (like its just waiting for me... to be here before vacation - yeah denial) it started shutting down on its own... I know it has been complaining a lot about virtual memory too low. Well its already 3 1/2 years old and haven't reformatted it so I thought it was just normal to have tiny problems... then waaa.. from an hour of use to less than maybe about 15-30mins it shuts down! And would not open till after an hour or so.

So I finally decided to bring it in - "PC doctors" aka PC shop where I bought it from, who would know better since there is nothing that I'm doing that makes it better. The diagnosis was it has a bad motherboard. Darn! of all the things that could break, its the worst if its the motherboard, its like terminal cancer, no more cure for it.

First I told my mom that I don't think I will be able to have it fixed since its an unexpected expense (very untimely!). Then she replied "Paano na kita makakausap niyan? Text text na lang ba?" in a very sad expression. Fine fine... So called up the PC shop (who I have already been calling on a daily basis) and decided to upgrade my PC.

Its a little stressful to follow up on the PC... since I also need it badly... I haven't backed up any of my documents... pictures... can't even make blog entries!!

I also have spend around 200php for less than 4 hours of internet! Tsk tsk tsk! Gosh not being connected make me feel so out of touch! Like forgetting your mobile phone at home! hahahaha... labo.

And it cost me over 8,000php to replace the motherboard, processor, and memory card. And a few other add ons. Everything else I manage to salvage... barely.

Here's a little geek talk. This is something I just found out that is now posing a problem to me. First, in my old PC I have 3 hard drives... now I could only connect 1 out of 3. I only have 2 IDE sockets in my new motherboard leaving one for the DVD rom and the other for the one HD. Apparently motherboard nowadays are using SATA HDs instead of the IDE ones... err... I don't really know whats the logic behind changing sockets but in over 3 years they manage to almost phase IDE out... sooo... my only option to have my IDE HDs to be useful is buying enclosure for it. hay added expense.

My next BIG problem that I am only realizing now (and its kinda pissing me off) is that my darn motherboard has no Parallel Port! Parallel port is the one where to stick your male printer port on?! Darnits! I couldn't believe it! WTF! is parallel port already so last season?! I know I'm a little dumbfounded that I didn't check the board if it has one... but come on! floppy drives are still attached to motherboards so I am sooo shock to find out that there is not freakin' way that there is nor Port for my Printer and Scanner! Apparently USB ports are being used by newer printers... so... I guess my PC is obsolete.

***

Oh well... I am compensating my frustrations with the thought of I now have a faster PC, and internet, and 2 extra external HDs, and... whatelse... darn! how am I suppose to solve my printer issues? buy a new printer and scanner? no way! argh! hopefully I could buy a Printer Port card or something

Dim Sum Dollies: The History of Singapore

Posted by jeng_is_cute at 04:22 PM on February 26, 2008.

Maitz wanted to experience watching something in Esplanade (ofcourse so did I), and timely enough I was browsing through activities that I could do here in Singapore and found Dim Sum Dollies: The History of Singapore .

What a way to learn about Singapore right lah? (hehehe)

I think it help a little that I watched a documentary before about Singapore.. . also nice that Maitz is updated in current changes in Singapore. But the play was all in exageration, and they made fun about a lot of things, how Singapura was such a tiny island, no one of the great explorers want to discover it, to their Spice girls act - Hot Chili is my favorite, he's so funny! hahaha. The humor was really funny though at times I get lost in translation especially when they start to talk really fast in Singlish... the actors was soo funny how they exagerate on characters, too bad I don't understand chinese so there were some parts that the audience was laughing about, that I couldn't really understand why. But overalll worth my 40SGD. I want to be a thespian!

And esplanade is really nice. The Theater and Set was really far from what I've watched in Manila. They even have a live band playing for the musical parts. Cool!

So far, I'm really enjoying my stay here. I have already met all my friends here - really nice. Been to Suntec City 4 times already and have not wished in the fountain ring thinggy, yet (again - if you count the time I went last Aug). There are soooo many Pinoys! Hearing mass here in our area alone last Sunday, I was wondering where they all came from.

With Maitz in the bus interchange - before we got lost.. hehehe

Maitz is a really good host (naks!) She even cooked Ceral Prawns last Friday. Aliw aliw.

And I ate fresh cherry for the first time. You haven't eaten cherry if its not fresh! Far from the bottled preserved cherries. Its way better! Like its like a fusion of Duhat and Macopa.
